Emily McGovern

Emily McGovern is a British-Irish cartoonist and author. She graduated from University College London in 2014 with a First in Russian Studies, and got her start in comics through her popular webcomic series ‘My Life As A Background Slytherin’.

In 2016 Emily’s short comic ‘Bloodlust & Bonnets’ was shortlisted for the prestigious Observer/Jonathan Cape Graphic Short Story Prize and her comic “So You’re Voting Tory” was published in The Corbyn Comic Book by Self Made Hero in September 2017.

Her first full-length graphic novel, BLOODLUST & BONNETS, was published in September 2019 by Andrews McMeel in the US, and Simon & Schuster in the UK. Her second graphic novel, TWELVE PERCENT DREAD, is forthcoming in 2022 with Picador in the UK and Dark Horse Comics in the US.
