Andy Ruffell

Andy grew up in the southeast of England, but has spent almost all of his adult life as a very happily adopted northerner. After years of dreaming about writing, he finally sat down and wrote his debut children’s novel Undone in November 2020 and was thrilled (and very humbled) to win the Hachette Children’s Novel Award 2021. Andy feels so lucky to have worked in schools for the past eighteen years as a teacher and headteacher. The children Andy has taught have all provided a constant source of inspiration and joy, and he’ll always be grateful for having been part of the crazy creativity of school life.
